TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's and women's basketball programs host teams from up and down the West Coast as part of the Doug McArthur Classic, Nov. 17-18, in Memorial Fieldhouse.

The legend of Doug McArthur
Doug McArthur is often thought as one of the most respected contributors to the promotion and development of sports in the Puget Sound area. He has been honored in a multitude of facets, including his induction into the Logger Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998. McArthur held several different positions at the University of Puget Sound, including Director of the Alumni Association, Sports Information Director, and Athletic Director. He also coached Logger teams ranging from golf, baseball, softball, and basketball.
Puget Sound welcomes to Memorial Fieldhouse the following men's teams: Evergreen State, Pacific, Redlands; and the following women's teams: Claremont-M-S, Pacific Lutheran, St. Martin's.
Logger men begin with a win
Puget Sound topped Evergreen State, 92-80, at home in the first game of the 2017-18 season. Jimmy Wohrer led al players with 26 points, and the Puget Sound defense forced 31 turnovers. Click HERE for a recap of the game.
Women's basketball preview
The McArthur Classic marks the first games of the 2017-18 season for the Logger women. Puget Sound returns two All-Northwest Conference selections in Jamie Lange and Elizabeth Prewitt, while first-year head coach Casey Kushiyama aims to continue Puget Sound's success in recent years.
