TACOMA, Washington – Puget Sound's Student-Athletes of the Year were honored by the Tacoma Athletic Commission (TAC) during a luncheon at Tower Lanes in Tacoma Thursday afternoon.
Men's basketball junior Jimmy Wohrer was recognized for winning Puget Sound's Ben Cheney Award, and women's sophomore swimmer Kelli Callahan was recognized for receiving Puget Sound's Alice Bond Award.
During the 2017-18 season, Wohrer led the Northwest Conference in scoring and was named to the All-NWC First Team. He was also named to the All-West Region First Team by D3hoops.com. Wohrer set the Puget Sound single-season record for made 3-pointers (104).
Callahan was named the NWC Women's Co-Swimmer of the Year. She claimed NWC titles in three individual events: 200-IM, 400-IM, and 100-breastsroke. She set NWC records in both the 200-IM and 400-IM. Callahan competed in the NCAA D-III Championships in Indianapolis, racing in the 200-IM, 400-IM, and 100-freestyle.
