Athletic Facilities
Recreational Use Information
The University's facilities provide excellent conditions for
athletic success and achievement. The Memorial Fieldhouse - Pamplin
Sports Center hosts athletic, recreational and cultural events, as
well as being "home court" to men's and women's basketball and
women's volleyball games. Newly renovated classrooms and locker
rooms make the facility user friendly. Recent expansion of the
exercise science lab also facilitates the testing and training
programs of athletes.
The new Fitness Center adjacent to the Fieldhouse provides
students with an expansive Olympic weight room, an aerobic exercise
area that includes Stairmasters, stationary bikes and a complete
Cybex strength system. The reception area of the Fitness Center
also connects to the Tennis Pavilion that houses six indoor tennis
courts, three racquetball courts and a climbing wall.
Across the street from the Fieldhouse is Baker Stadium where the
Loggers play football, men's and women's soccer teams compete, and
track and field athletes practice and compete. Adjacent to the
Fieldhouse a new baseball facility opened in the spring of 2000. A
new softball complex and practice soccer and women's lacrosse area
located east of the Fieldhouse was inaugurated in the fall of
1995. In the fall of 2007, the Loggers renovated Lower Baker
Field, installing a state-of-the-art artificial surface, as well as
lighting to allow for practice in the early morning or late
evening.
Wallace Pool houses the perennially strong men's and women's
swimming program. Adjacent to the pool is Warner Gym, an auxiliary
gymnasium used for volleyball, basketball, intramurals and early
season baseball and softball practice. Warner Gym is also home to
dry-land training facilities for the Logger crew programs.
