MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - The awards keep coming for Puget Sound junior Mark Rockey (Mountlake Terrace, Wash./New Mexico) as he has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-America Third Team, as announced by the ABCA on Friday afternoon.

Rockey earned third-team honors after batting .444 in 39 games played in 2009. The transfer from University of New Mexico hit a school-record 17 doubles in 2009, also adding 13 home runs and 49 RBIs in 133 at-bats. Rockey also posted a .991 fielding percentage at first base and catcher, as well as throwing out 13 runners attempting to steal.

With the honor, Rockey becomes the first Logger baseball player since joining Division III to be named an All-American.  He was one of two catchers honored on the third team, with senior Kyle Johnson of Concordia (Minn.) earning the other spot.  Senior Drew Hedman of Pomona-Pitzer and junior Shawn Gilblair of Eastern Connecticut State were named National Co-Players of the Year.
