Strash named West Region Rookie of the Year

TACOMA, Washington - Kyle Strash was named the West Region Rookie of the Year by d3baseball.com, as announced Monday. The outstanding first-year Logger from Sammamish, Washington, was also named the Northwest Conference Freshman of the Year (and All-NWC First Team) in April.

Strash's .393 batting average and .524 on-base percentage both led the NWC in 2018. His approach at the plate is hardly indicative of a first-year player. Strash walked 28 times this season, and struck out only 14 times. He pieced together a 13-game hitting streak in the latter part of the season.

During NWC games, Strash hit .375 with a .503 on-base percentage.
