Thank you very much for your interest in the University of Puget Sound and Logger Baseball. Puget Sound offers a unique opportunity to earn a degree from one of the top Liberal Arts institutions in the United States and compete for a successful NCAA Division III baseball program. Our College offers a beautiful campus and an outstanding education, with personal classroom settings in which the student to professor ratio is 11:1. The average class size is approximately 19 students. The Puget Sound campus is reminiscent of an Eastern Ivy League school, with gorgeous, ivy-covered red brick buildings set in a quiet, historic, residential part of Tacoma. Tacoma is surrounded by the Puget Sound Waterway, and situated 60 miles from beautiful Mt. Rainier, which dominates the skyline. Seattle is only 40 minutes away, with plenty of culture and entertainment when you need a change of pace. In addition, the Loggers athletic facilities are outstanding. West Athletic Field (completed in spring of 1999) is one of the best baseball facilities in the Northwest Conference. This state-of-the-art facility is up to date with NCAA regulations and includes batting cages, hitting areas, bullpens, a batter’s eye, and clubhouse. We also offer a functional indoor facility (Warner Gym), complete with hitting cages, indoor mounds, a large hitting net, and plenty of room. The Loggers also make use of a multi-use FieldTurf practice field (Lower Baker) located just west of our Warner Gym.
As a Coaching Staff, we believe in hard work and dedication. We believe in taking a tremendous amount of pride in the uniform that you wear and the college that you represent. Coach Billings expects that his players play baseball the “right” way. In other words, he expects his players to stay in the moment and never quit. We are looking for supremely competitive individuals who want a great education and a winning baseball experience. If you fit these criteria and you are interested in the University of Puget Sound, please fill out our Online Student-Athlete Baseball Questionnaire http://www2.ups.edu/athletics/baseball/form.htm. In addition, to allow us to become more familiar with you, we request you send us a baseball skills video or DVD highlighting your baseball abilities. This video should show all of the skills that are specific to your position(s). Open tryouts are held each year in September/October during our non-traditional season known as Fall Ball, or in January for 2-sport athletes. Every year we keep between 30 and 35 players on our roster.
