TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's and women's crew team won the annual Meyer/Lamberth Cup on Saturday over rival Pacific Lutheran. It was the 52nd running of the Meyer Cup for the varsity men and 39th running of the Lamberth Cup for the varsity women.
The women's varsity-eight boat continued their impressive season by winning the Lamberth Cup. The Loggers timed in at 7:51.3, five seconds ahead of the Lutes. In the second varsity-eight race, the Logger women's also took first place, finishing in 8:19.5.
On the men's side, the Loggers blew past the Lutes to win the Meyer Cup by open water. They timed in at 7:47.7 in the varsity-four competition.
There were also alumni races for men, the Neils Cup, and women, the Johnson Cup. Puget Sound came away with a win in the Neils Cup.
Following an undefeated season against division-III competition in both the varsity-eight and second varsity-eight, the Logger women await a bid for nationals, to be announced on Monday, May 11 at 4pm.
