TACOMA, Washington – Puget Sound men's and women's crew return to competition for the 2019 spring season as the boats prepare for the Pacific Lutheran Invitational on American Lake, March 9.
Puget Sound competed in two regattas during the fall season: the Puget Sound Autumn Invitational and the Head of the Lake Regatta in Seattle. The Puget Sound women's varsity-eight was named the Northwest Conference Crew of the Week following the Autumn Invitational. The Loggers' WV8 won its race with a time of 13:22.6, besting conference boats from Pacific Lutheran and Lewis & Clark.
During the 2018 spring season, the Logger men captured the Rainier Cup, and the women placed second in the NWC Championship. Logger boats also swept Pacific Lutheran during the Meyer/Lamberth Cup. The W2V8 and MN4 both earned medals during the WIRA Championships.
Following the Pacific Lutheran Invitational this Saturday, Puget Sound hosts the Logger Invitational March 16 back on American Lake. The Covered Bridge Regatta is scheduled for April 6, and the following day is the Meyer/Lamberth Cup.
The NWC Championship is April 20, and the WIRA Championships are the following week in Gold River, California.
Puget Sound is also scheduled to compete in the Windermere Cup, May 4, in Seattle.
A preseason poll of NWC coaches revealed that Pacific Lutheran is expected to repeat as NWC Champions, with Puget Sound anticipated to place second.
