Logger Football Releases 2010 Schedule

TACOMA, Wash. - The University of Puget Sound has finalized its 2010 football schedule that includes six home games for the Loggers and first-year head coach Jeff Thomas. 

“Baker Stadium is an amazing venue for small college football and the environment of our on-campus experience certainly provides a home field advantage for our guys.  Obviously, we are thrilled to have six home contests in our first year to showcase our efforts,” noted Thomas.

The Loggers open the Thomas inaugural campaign on Sept. 4 in a match-up with Pacific University at Peyton Field.  It will be the first of two contests with the Boxers, who return as football members of the Northwest Conference in 2010.  The home schedule also is dotted with traditionally exciting NWC opponents Pacific Lutheran on Oct. 2 and Linfield College on Oct. 9 in the Homecoming tilt as well as Lewis & Clark on Oct. 23.  The Loggers host Whittier on Sept. 25 as its only non-conference member opponent.

The road portion of the 2010 slate includes stops at Occidental on Sept. 11 as well as Willamette, Oct. 16 and Whitworth on Nov. 13.  Originally the Loggers were scheduled for a game at Menlo College on Nov. 6 but Menlo’s decision to leave the NWC as an associate member in football prompted the addition of the second Pacific University contest for Puget Sound.

“We are very excited to have put together an all NCAA Division III schedule that will challenge our players as we continue to work to reach our goals for the upcoming year.  Our returning players have put in the time and effort necessary to be successful and we are enthusiastic about the young players who will join us in fall.  We are fortunate to play in the toughest conference in NCAA Division III and we are excited about the challenge that brings,” commented Thomas.
