Kniffin, McDonald Earn NWC Weekly Honors

SEATTLE – Seniors Adam Kniffin (football) and Chris McDonald (men's soccer) were each selected as Northwest Conference Student-Athletes Of The Week the conference announced on Tuesday.

Kniffin set yet another school record on the football field with 272 yards receiving in Saturday's 55-35 loss to Chapman. Kniffin hauled in 12 catches, including four touchdowns, as the Logger offense returned to its potent ways through the air. Kniffin now owns eight school records and is less than 50 yards away from becoming Puget Sound's all-time leader in receiving yards.

Chris McDonald also made some moves in the school record books as he climbed to third all-time for shutouts. McDonald led the Loggers to three 1-0 wins last week, including key West Region wins over UC Santa Cruz and Colorado College. His three consecutive shutouts saw his goals against average dip below 1.00 for the first time this season and gave him 23 in his career, which ties current assistant coach Pete Van Sant for third all-time.

The men's soccer team opens NWC play at home this week while the football team has a bye.

After an injury left him on the sideline for his freshman year, Kupono Park has fought back to earn the starting role at running back for the Loggers this year. While Kupono is known for his work ethic, he is also known as one of the funniest members of the football team. “Being a Logger means being able to hack hack and chop chop your way through life.”
