TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound football team dominated both sides of the ball during its 61-6 win over Occidental (Sept. 9), and the Northwest Conference took notice.
Todd Blakely and Tanner Diebold earned Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for defense and offense, respectively. Blakely finished with two sacks and 3.5 tackles for a loss. The defensive end also recovered a fumble against the Tigers.
After a slow start in the first half, Diebold found his rhythm in the second half. The senior finished the game completing 24 of 36 attempts (66.7%) for 313 yards and four touchdowns. The senior ranks second in the NWC for both passing yards per game (317.5) and passing touchdowns (six).
Puget Sound has consecutive bye weeks before making the short trip across Tacoma to take on Pacific Lutheran, Saturday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m.
