TACOMA, Washington – Junior wide receiver Jewell Day caught two touchdowns receptions of more than 50 yards each, and the Northwest Conference tipped its cap by naming Day the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for offense.
Day scored the Loggers' first touchdown against Redlands (Sept. 8) early in the third quarter when he reeled in a pass over the middle and took it 54 yards to the house. Day helped the Loggers mount a comeback bid by scoring on a 64-yard play late in the fourth quarter, but Puget Sound came up short, 28-21.
Day finished with five catches for 163 yards. He is the second Logger in as many weeks to earn NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for offense (AJ Johnson).
The Loggers are back on the road this weekend to take on La Verne Saturday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m.
