Boxer Men Hold On To Win NWC Spring Classic

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Taking advantage of the six-stroke advantage they built on day one, the Pacific Boxers held on to win the 2009 Northwest Conference Men's Golf Spring Classic on Tuesday at Chambers Bay Golf Club in University Place, Wash.  Pacific's Max Bonk collected medalist honors.

The Boxers did not have a sub-80 score on the second day but a pair of 80's from Tim Andrew and Ben Wright and a pair of 82's from Bonk and Brain Pan was enough to collect the  victory with a final score of 618.  Co-host Puget Sound used a 77 from Marc Phillips (Boise, Idaho/Timberline) and a 316 team score on day two to vault into second place with a final score of 624.

Linfield took third with a score of 625, followed by Willamette (647), Whitworth (649), Whitman (650), Pacific Lutheran (652) and George Fox (685).  Lewis & Clark did not send a team to the tournament.

Pacific now holds a narrow lead in the NWC Championship Standings with 15 points.  Linfield is second with 14, followed by Puget Sound at 13.  Whitworth and Willamette are tied for fourth with nine points while Pacific Lutheran and Whitman are tied for sixth with five points.  George Fox is in eighth place with two points.
