Logger Golf Outshines Lutes, Redhawks

LAKEWOOD, Wash. - For the first time in school history, the Logger women's golf team put together a team score comprised entirely of scores in the 80s as they collected a win over DI Seattle University.  The Logger men had a good day as well but feel three strokes short of rival Pacific Lutheran.

On the women's side, the Loggers were paced by an 84 from sophomore Natalie Nakamine (Pearl City, Hawaii/Roosevelt).  Sarah Bicker (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) finished the round with an 86 while Maresa Jenson (Whitefish, Mont.) carded an 87.  As a team, the Loggers collected a five-stroke victory over Seattle, who was led by an 81 from Kelsey Johnson.  Pacific Lutheran only had three golfers on the course to fall short of the necessary four needed for a team score.

On the men's side, Jordan Hodge (Tucson, Ariz.) shot a 79 to lead Puget Sound.  Tim Bartz (University Place, Wash./Oregon State) finished with an 80 on the round as the Loggers finished with a team score of 327.  Pacific Lutheran carded a 324 behind Kyle Spitzer's 78 while Seattle finished with a 352 to take third.

The Loggers will take next weekend off from competition before heading to Yakima, Wash. on April 18 to play Apple Tree GC.  Joining Puget Sound in the Palm Springs of Washington will be Pacific Lutheran and Whitworth.
