Logger Men In Third After Day One of NWC Golf Championship
McKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore. - Jordan Hodge (Tucson, Ariz.) shot a four-over 76 and Greg Kirkpatrick (Longview, Wash./Mark Morris) shot a five-over 77 to put the Puget Sound Loggers in third place, following the first day of the 2009 Northwest Conference Men's Golf Championship at Tokatee Golf Club in McKenzie Bridge, Ore.
In addition to the 76 from Hodge and 77 from Kirkpatrick, Puget Sound got a pair of 79's from Marc Phillips (Boise, Idaho/Timberline) and Mason Whitcomb (Gig Harbor, Wash.) to finish the first day with a team score of 311.
Linfield took the team lead following day one with a 303 while Pacific used a two-under 70 from sophomore Max Bonk to hold down second with 306 strokes. The Loggers are third at 311, followed by Pacific Lutheran (314), Whitman (315), Willamette (327), Whitworth (331) and George Fox (343).
The Championship will conclude on Sunday with the first group expected to tee off around 8:00 a.m.
