Logger Men 4th After Day One of NWC Fall Classic

KENNEWICK, Wash. - With five of six golfers with scores of sub-80s, the Puget Sound Logger men's golf team finds themselves in fourth place following day one of the Northwest Conference Fall Classic at Canyon Lakes GC in Kennewick, Wash.

Tim Bartz (University Place, Wash./Oregon State) led the Loggers with a three-over 75.  Greg Kirkpatrick (Longview, Wash./Mark Morris) shot 76 on the day as the Loggers recorded a team score of 308.

Pacific holds a narrow lead in the team standings after shooting 294, one-stroke better than second-place Linfield (295).  Whitworth shot 307 to edge out the Loggers for third place.  Willamette is in fifth (317), followed by Pacific Lutheran (318), Whitman (329) and George Fox (331).  Lewis & Clark choose not to compete.

The eight NWC schools competing will continue the competition on Sunday afternoon.

The top golfer for the Loggers in 2008-09, Jordan carried an average of 78.3 strokes per round as Puget Sound had one of the top seasons in school history. "I knew Puget Sound was a great small school in a part of the country that I really liked. I also knew I would be able to continue to compete, which was important to me."
