BREMERTON, Washington – The Puget Sound men's golf team placed seventh out of nine teams, and the Logger women came in eighth during the two-day Puget Sound Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club this weekend.
The men shot 96 strokes over par the 576 par, with sores of 335 in the first round and 337 in the second. Olympic College won the event by shooting one over par. The women shot 384 in the first round and 393 in the second, good for +209.
Ben Whitham was the Puget Sound men's best finisher by shooting 82 in the first round and 79 in the second round, good for t-38th overall (+17). Jeremy van den Berg shot a +23 between the two rounds, good for 43rd overall. Brett Golden played as an independent, and placed t-23rd with a +12.
On the women's side, Halle Peterson has a strong finish by placing t-6th overall. She shot nine over par with 77 strokes in the first round and 81 in the second. Kristi Koyanagi tied for 27th overall. She came in 37 over par, which tied for 27th overall. Whitman College won the women's event at +57.
Both Puget Sound teams compete in the Lewis & Clark Invitational, which begins on Saturday, March 12.
