Turner sets Puget Sound men's golf record

DUPONT, Washington – Mac Turner set a Puget Sound record during the first event of the 2017-18 Puget Sound golf season. Turner won the 2017 Collegiate  Open at the Home Course, finishing with a 36-hole score of 138. He broke Justin Benz's 14-year old record of 141 through 36 holes.

Turner shot eight under par, one stroke ahead of Pacific Lutheran's Mitchell Baldridge. The Logger men tied with Grays Harbor for ninth (+41) out of 14 teams. 

Meanwhile, the Puget Sound women placed sixth (+122) out of eight qualifying teams in the Pacific Lutheran Invitational.

Kristy Koyanagi was the Loggers' top finisher, placing 27th (+27) out of 52 golfers. Emmi Modahl finished 36th (+33).

The Loggers host the Puget Sound Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club,  starting Saturday, Sept. 23.
