TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's and women's golf teams travel east this weekend, as the Logger men compete in the Whitworth Invitational (Oct. 1-2), and the women compete in the Whitman Invitational (Sept. 30 – Oct. 1).
The Whitworth Men's Invitational is at Kalispel Country Country Club in Spokane, Washington. The Whitman Women's Invitational is at Veterans Memorial Golf Club in Walla Walla, Washington.
The Logger men placed sixth and the women fourth during last week's Puget Sound Invitational at Gold Mountain Country Club in Bremerton, Washington. Collin Rajczak tied for fifth overall (+9) in the men's competition, and Kristi Koyanagi finished 10th (+26) for the Logger women.
Sophomore Mac Turner set a Puget Sound men's golf record in the first weekend of the 2017-18 season. Turner shot a 138 through 36 holes of the Collegiate Open (Sept. 17-18) at the Home Course (DuPont Washington), setting the new Loggers standard by three strokes. Justin Benz (2003), Matt Ristine (2003, 2005), and Matt Kitto (2011) were all tied for the previous record, 141.
