TACOMA, Washington – The 2018 Puget Sound men's and women's spring golf season starts Saturday, March 3, in the Pacific Lutheran Spring Invitational. The Lutes are hosting at Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Washington.
Puget Sound is slated to host the Northwest Conference Championships at Oakbrook Golf Club, April 21-22. Both Logger teams will compete in the Whitman Spring Invitational, March 10-11, and then have a month off before the NWC Spring Classic (April 7-8).
Mac Turner had a standout 2017 fall season for the Puget Sound golf program. Turner set the Logger record for best 36-hole score when he shot a 136 during the Collegiate Open hosted by Pacific Lutheran (Sept. 17-18). He shot a 68 in both rounds. Justin Benz (2003), Matt Ristine (2003, 2005), and Matt Kitto (2011) were all tied for the previous record, 141.
Both Logger teams placed sixth in the NWC Fall Classic (Oct. 14-15). Turner tied for 16th overall out of 45 men's golfers, and Kristi Koyanagi was the top women's finisher for the Loggers as she also tied for 16th.
Senior Emmi Modahl aims to lead the Puget Sound women down the stretch. She was the top women's golfer for the Loggers during the NWC Championships, placing 23rd overall.
