Foster Earns Regional Honors

TACOMA, Wash. - After helping to lead the Puget Sound Loggers to one of the most successful seasons in program history, senior forward Jason Foster (Spanaway, Wash./Henry Foss) has been named All-West Region by both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3hoops.com.

Foster has been named a First Team selection by the NABC, the only Northwest Conference player to be honored. He was also named a Second Team selection by D3hoops.com. Senior center Jeff Skemp of UW Platteville was named West Region Player of the Year and Steve Fritz of St. Thomas was named West Region Coach of the Year by both groups.

Foster concluded an outstanding four-year career that saw him scored 1,626 points for the Loggers, third most in school history. The 2008-09 Northwest Conference player of the year and three-time First Team selection averaged 15.7 ppg in his senior season, adding 6.9 rebounds per game and just over two blocks per game.

The Loggers finished the season with a record of 25-4, the third-best record in school history. Puget Sound advanced to the Sectional Round of the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship tournament before falling to top-ranked and undefeated St. Thomas (Minn.).

Kaleb followed in family footsteps to attend Puget Sound after playing for brother Aubrey as a senior at Lincoln High School. Basketball wasn't the only reason that Kaleb choose Puget Sound, as the accomplished pianist was familiar with the music program as well. "Puget Sound has a great basketball program, an outstanding music department and an esteemed athletic reputation."
