Loggers Pull Past Portland Bible, 71-68
PORTLAND, Ore. - Battling through snowy streets that disrupted much of Portland on Tuesday night just to get to the gym, the Puget Sound Loggers were able to overcome the Portland Bible Wildcats, 71-68, in a non-conference men's basketball game on Tuesday night in Portland, Ore.
In the first half, the host Wildcats held an obvious advantage shooting the ball, making 53.6% of their attempts, including four from behind the arc, but the Loggers used their high-pressure defense to head into the locker rooms tied at 39 at the half.
In the second half, the Loggers found their shot, making 10 of 24 attempts for 41.7%, including five three-pointers, while host PBC cooled off, making just 32.4% of attempts in the second period as Puget Sound collected the 71-68 victory.
The Loggers were led by 13 points from sophomore Kaleb Shelton (Tacoma, Wash./Lincoln). Freshman Riggs Yarbro (Moses Lake, Wash./Moses Lake Christian) added 10 points while senior Austin Boyce (Kent, Wash./Kentwood) and freshman Gabe Barboa (Northridge, Calif./Crespi Carmelite) each added nine points.
