TACOMA, Wash. – For the second year in a row, Kaleb Shelton-Johnson has earned Capital One Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America. Shelton-Johnson is a senior captain on the Logger men's basketball team.
Shelton-Johnson led the Loggers to a historic 10-0 start to the 2011-12 season, which is the best start to a season in over 40 years. The Loggers are currently 15-4 overall and 7-3 in the Northwest Conference.
"The special thing about Kaleb as a person and his character is that he gives his all in everything he does," commented head coach Justin Lunt. "From his music to basketball to academics and his relationships, he just gives it all. You don't find too many young adults who have that much maturity and who are that driven at that young of an age."
He is averaging 10.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Loggers and eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark at Pacific Lutheran on Jan. 10.
Shelton-Johnson is also an award-winning pianist in the School of Music at Puget Sound. He has a 3.83 GPA while majoring in Music and Spanish.
Shelton-Johnson and the Loggers will face Whitworth tomorrow at 8 p.m. in Spokane, Wash.
