The Loggers round out the 2016-17 season at Pacific

TACOMA, Washington – The final game of the 2016-17 Puget Sound men's basketball season is at Pacific on Saturday, Feb. 18. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Their first meeting

The Loggers lost at home against Pacific, 81-78, on Jan. 20. Kyle King matched his career-high in scoring with 23 points, and Kohl Meyer filled the stat sheet with 11 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Carlos Mancasola and Zach Miller both scored 15 points.

 

Midweek blues

Despite holding a halftime lead, 39-38, the Loggers lost at Pacific Lutheran, 75-63, on Tuesday, Feb. 14. After shooting 53.6 percent from the floor in the first half, Puget Sound shot 25.0 percent in the second. Jimmy Wohrer led the Loggers with 18 points, all which came off of 3-pointers in the first half.

 

Reversing the trend

Puget Sound aims to reverse a losing trend in regular-season finales. The last time the Loggers won the final game of a regular season was an 80-67 victory at Linfield on Feb. 18, 2012.

 

Swiss army baller

Kohl Meyer is among Northwest Conference leaders in several statistics. He leads the league in assists (4.5), is second in steals (2.0), third in field-goal percentage (56.3), and fourth in rebounds (8.2).

 

Scouting the Boxers (10-12, 4-10 NWC)

Pacific snapped a six-game losing streak with a 60-56 win at Lewis & Clark on Feb. 11. The Boxers have the second-lowest scoring output in the league, averaging 69.5 points per game. The Boxers are also the second-worst 3-point shooting team in the NWC, connecting on just 32.6 percent of their shots from deep. J.B. Ewell is the team's leading scorer with 12.7 points per game, and Nate Olowo is second in the NWC with 9.3 rebounds.
