TACOMA, Washington – The Northwest Conference leading scorer in men's basketball was named to the All-NWC First Team, and his senior teammate also earned an All-NWC nod, the league announced today.
Junior guard Jimmy Wohrer finished the regular season with a league-high 22.2 points per game. His 100 3-pointers made also leads the NWC by wide margin, and Wohrer set the Puget Sound single-season record for 3-pointers en route to being named to the All-NWC First Team. Wohrer has scored at least 20 points in 15 games this season, including a career-high 36 against George Fox (Feb. 3).
Easton Driessen earned a penchent for making clutch plays on both ends of the floor as he was named an All-NWC Honorable Mention. One of Driessen's most memorable plays this year was when he hit the go-ahead 3-pointer - with a hand in his face and six second on the clock – to beat George Fox, 101-100, in Memorial Fieldhouse (Feb. 3). He is averaging 9.5 points per game.
Puget Sound heads to Spokane, Washington, the a Northwest Conference semifinal matchup at Whitworth, Thursday, Feb. 22. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
