Tough loss to Lutes

The Loggers dropped their first NWC game of the season at home against Pacific Lutheran, 84-75, Tuesday, Nov. 27. Puget Sound overcame a 12-point deficit in the second half to claim a 71-69 edge, but the Loggers couldn't get the clutch defensive stops down the stretch. Jimmy Wohrer scored a team-high 19 points for the Loggers, while Gabriel Chaikin and Stellan Roberts both netted 16 points.

The Wohrior

Jimmy Wohrer is the conference's second-leading scorer with 22.0 points per game. He finished last year's campaign as the NWC's top scorer with 22.2 points per game.

A deep brand of ball

Out of all NWC players attempting at least 2.0 3-pointers per game, six are shooting at a 50-percent clip. Two of those six players wear the Maroon & White. Jimmy Wohrer is shooting 55.8 percent from distance (2.8 attempts per game), and Gabriel Chaikin is shooting 50 percent (3.6 attempts per game). As a team, Puget Sound leads the NWC in 3-point shooting by making 46.6 of its attempts.

Needing stops

Although the Loggers are shooting well, Puget Sound is having trouble stringing together defensive stops. Opponents are shooting 50 percent from the floor against the Loggers, which is the second-highest mark in the NWC (Pacific is allowing opponents to shoot 60.8 percent).

Looking ahead

The Loggers have road games at Northwest (Dec. 4) and Warner Pacific (Dec. 14) before returning to Memorial Fieldhouse to host Concordia-Chicago (Dec. 17).

Scouting George Fox (3-2, 0-0 NWC)

The Bruins begin their NWC slate at Lewis & Clark Friday before they host Puget Sound Saturday. Mason Green-Richards and Ryan Lacey both average 20.8 points per game, and Dylan Hamlett is the team's leading rebounder (7.2). George Fox ranks second in the NWC for team rebounding with 41.0 boards per game.
