TACOMA, Washington – Jimmy Wohrer tied a Puget Sound school record and led the men's basketball team to two Northwest Conference victories. The senior was named the Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. He was named the Logger Club Logger of the Week yesterday.
During Puget Sound's 110-101 home victory over Pacific (Feb. 2), Wohrer hit six 3-pointers and tied Chase Curtis for the Puget Sound record for most career 3-pointers (275). He netted 26 points against the Boxers.
The previous day, Wohrer netted 32 points during Puget Sound's 92-85 win over Linfield (Feb. 1). His night included the game-tying bucket that sent the contest into overtime.
For the weekend, Wohrer shot 12-for-23 (52.2 percent) from 3-point range.
Wohrer's first NWC Student-Athlete of the Week honor this season followed a pair of road wins against Chapman and Whittier (Nov. 23-24).
The Loggers (10-11, 6-6 NWC) are on the road this weekend, starting with an 8 p.m. tipoff at Lewis & Clark Friday, Feb. 8.
