Loggers, Bruins Play To 1-1 Draw

NEWBERG, Ore. - Junior Alex Lehecka (Burlington, Wash./Burlington-Edison) scored in the early part of the first half but a late goal by George Fox forced a 1-1 tie in a Northwest Conference men's soccer game on Sunday afternoon in Newberg, Ore.

Lehecka gave the Loggers a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute after taking a pass from fellow junior Daniel Lee (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt).  George Fox evened things up in the 78th minutes when Brennan Altringer took a pass from Peter Luginbill and scored to force overtime.  Despite 20 minutes of extra play, neither squad was able to net a second goal as they settled for the 1-1 tie.

Greg Saetrum (Boise, Idaho/Timberline) made four saves, allowing just the one goal, as the Logger defense prevent many of the Bruins' 23 shots from finding the target.  Jake Maguire made 11 saves for the Bruins, stopping the powerful Logger offense.

Puget Sound will stay on the road next weekend when they travel to Whitworth on Saturday and Whitman on Sunday.
