M. Soccer Blanks #8 Whitworth, 1-0, in 2 OT

SPOKANE, Wash. - Sophomore Zach Semago (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) scored the game-winner in the 101st minutes as the Puget Sound Loggers shut down the eighth-ranked Whitworth Pirates in a Northwest Conference men's soccer game on Saturday afternoon at Whitworth Soccer Field in Spokane, Wash.

In the first half, neither squad was able to get too many good shots off and when they did, the goalkeepers kept them out of the net as UPS keeper Greg Saetrum (Boise, Idaho/Timberline) and Whitworth keeper Brian Sherpe each made two saves.  In the second half, Saetrum added another save as the defensive kept the pressure on both sides of the field.

With neither team able to score in regulation, the Loggers and Pirates headed to overtime for the third straight meeting and the fourth in the last five matches played between the two schools.  Neither team found the net in first overtime but in the second OT, senior Taylor Hyde (Sandy, Utah/Waterford) found Semago for the winning score at 100:40.

The Loggers will look to go 2-0 on the weekend when they head down to Walla Walla to take on Whitman.  Gametime with the Missionaries is set for 2:30 p.m.
