Boxers Stop UPS Men's Soccer, 3-1

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Following behind early in the game, the Puget Sound Loggers were unable to come back, falling to the Pacific Boxers, 3-1, in a Northwest Conference men's soccer match on Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium in Forest Grove, Ore.

Danny Williams got the Boxers on the board just 2:53 into the game after breaking away from a Logger defender on the left side and booting the ball past UPS keeper Greg Saetrum (Boise, Idaho/Timberline).  The Boxers made it 2-0 just 31 seconds into the second half after Michael Iacolucci sent a cross into the middle of the box and Kizamu Tsutakawa got a head on the ball to send it into the net.  The Boxers got their third goal in the 61st minute after Saetrum saved a shot by Williams but Travis Birrell got a head on the rebound to give Pacific the 3-0 lead.

Cole Peterson (Great Falls, Mont.) spoiled the shutout attempt with just 55 seconds to go in the game, collecting a rebound off the keeper and scoring his second goal of the season.

The Loggers will look to collect a win on Sunday afternoon as they travel to McMinnville, Ore. to take on the Linfield Wildcats.

A defensive wall in the Logger backfield, Cole has been a regular contributor for Puget Sound since arriving in 2006. While he excels athletically, he also enjoys his academics. "Organic chemistry has been my favorite class so far. I enjoyed being one of John Hanson's students. The labs were a lot of work, but were interesting and fun."
