Loggers Shut Out Coe For Second Straight Win

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Senior Derek Woodworth (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) and junior Chris Shaw (Couer d'Alene, Idaho/Couer d'Alene Charter) each picked up a goal and an assist as the Puget Sound Loggers won their second straight, shutting out the Coe Kohawks, 2-0, on Monday morning in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Loggers got on the board in the 28th minute when Woodworth found Shaw in front of the Coe net for a 1-0 Puget Sound lead.  Heading into halftime, the Loggers held a 6-3 advantage on shots, not allowing the Kohawks to put a ball on goal during the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the teams continued their defensive battle until the 84th minute when Shaw found Woodworth for Woodworth's first goal of the season and a 2-0 Logger lead.  Puget Sound again held a 6-3 lead on shots as keepers Greg Saetrum (Boise, Idaho/Timberline) and Chris McDonald (Newton, Mass./Noble & Greenough) combined for the shutout with neither player having to make a save.

The Loggers return to Tacoma on Friday when they play host to West Region foe Chapman, beginning at 5 p.m. on East Athletic Field in Tacoma, Wash.
