McDonald Solid as Loggers and Missionaries Play To 0-0 Tie

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Freshman keeper Chris McDonald (Newton, Mass./Noble & Greenough) made seven saves to preserve the shutout as the Puget Sound Loggers played to a scoreless tie with the Whitman Missionaries in a Northwest Conference men's soccer match on Saturday in Walla Walla, Wash.

The majority of the Loggers' scoring opportunities came in the first half as they managed to put four of their six shots on net but Devin Kuh made four saves to keep the match scoreless.  In the second half, it was McDonald who had to step up, making four saves on 13 Whitman shots to force overtime.

In the extra periods, the Loggers had to go on the defensive again, as Whitman unleashed seven total shots and McDonald had to make two more saves to protect the shutout.  Overall, Whitman outshot the Loggers, 27-12, on the match.

The Loggers will now turn their attention to Sunday's match with Whitworth, beginning at 2:30 p.m. in Spokane, Wash.
