Peterson Named First Team All-NWC

SPOKANE, Wash. - For the third time in his collegiate career, senior Cole Peterson (Great Falls, Mont./C.M. Russell) has been named First Team All-Northwest Conference, as voted on by the NWC men's soccer coaches and announced on Thursday.

Peterson earned first team honors for the second straight season and the third time in four years after establishing himself as one of the top dual-threats in the Northwest.  As a shutdown defender, he helped anchor a back line that limited teams to just 1.15 goals per game.  Peterson was also a weapon on offensive set pieces, scoring four goals in 2009, including three game-winners.

Fellow defender Ben Coffey (Mt. Vernon, Wash./Western Washington) was named Second-Team All-NWC after helping Peterson and the Loggers defend.  Junior midfielder Chris Shaw (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho/Coeur d'Alene Charter) earned honorable mention honors after scoring four times and assisting on one other, as did senior defensive midfielder Derek Woodworth (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep), who led the team with five goals and four assists for 14 points.

The Loggers concluded the season with a record of 9-9-2 and 6-6-2 in Northwest Conference matches, good enough for fourth place.
