Trio of Loggers Score In Shutout Of Linfield

TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound men's soccer team struck for a trio of second half goals for a 3-0 win over Linfield on Sunday. Three different Loggers scored to power the victory.

After a scoreless first half, the Loggers (3-2, 2-0 NWC) wasted little time in hanging up a goal on the board. Peter Russell bent a corner perfectly just inside the near post to give the Loggers a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute.

Nine minutes later, Matt Durland placed a beautiful cross into the box as Vincent McCluskey headed it just over the Linfield keeper to pad the Logger lead. Colin McIntosh scored the Loggers final goal when he converted a penalty kick in the 80th minute.

The Loggers outshot the Wildcats (1-4, 0-2 NWC) 17-7, including 9-3 in he second half. Linfield goalie Greg Sandler made five big saves in the first half to keep the match scoreless into the half. Chris McDonald made one save for his second shutout of the season.

The Loggers head east next week for a Saturday match at Whitworth and a Sunday match at Whitman.
