Three Loggers Earn NWC Weekly Honors

SEATTLE – The 2012-13 school year is off to a fast start for the Puget Sound Loggers as three student-athletes were selected as the Northwest Conference Athletes of the Week. Matt Klein (cross country), Colin McIntosh (men's soccer) and Jackie Harvey (volleyball) all earned the weekly honor.

Klein started the 2012 cross country season on fire with an individual win at the Puget Sound Invitational on Saturday. Klein's personal-best time of 26:45 was well ahead of the competition as he paced the field. The individual win comes on the heels of his NWC track & field title in the 10k and runner-up finish in the 5k.

McIntosh earned NWC Offensive Player of the Week honors with a pair of goals in the Loggers first two matches this weekend. Monday's match against UC Santa Cruz was not included in the nomination period. His first goal came in the 87th minute against St. Thomas, which sent the match into overtime and eventually secured a tie for the Loggers. His second goal was scored against Gustavus Adolphus and gave the Logger a 2-1 lead early in the second half.

Harvey was the Most Outstanding Player of the Puget Sound Premier as she led the Loggers to a 4-0 record on the opening weekend. She averaged 3.87 kills and 4.13 digs per set while also hitting .224. Additionally, she served up five aces and had four total blocks. She currently ranks second in the NWC in kills per set and fourth in digs per set.

Our school's athletic program has a proud history and every day we continue that story.”
