KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its All-Region teams recently with three Loggers being honored. Senior Chris Shaw earned a spot on the All-West Region First Team while senior Chris McDonald and junior Colin McIntosh were honored on the Third Team.
Shaw returned to the team this year after two years away and immediately stepped into a leadership role. He played mainly in the midfield but also spent time up front and as a defender to fill in spots vacated by injuries. The senior ranked second on the team with 10 points. He scored four goals, including two game-winners.
McDonald concluded his career this year with a record-tying 13 shutouts in 2012. The 13 shutouts gave him a new school record 33 career shutouts. He played every minute in goal for the Loggers with a 0.61 goals against average and made 56 saves.
McIntosh was the lone junior honored from the Loggers second place squad this year. As the Loggers centerback, he helped the Loggers continue their reputation as one of the stingiest defenses in the Northwest. He also scored a pair of goals and dished out three assists.
Shaw and McDonald are two of just three starters that will graduate this year. The Loggers will return a core group of eight starters, led by McIntosh and an experienced junior class.
