Loggers come up short in 2-0 loss to UMass-Boston

TACOMA, Washington – The University of Puget Sound men's soccer team fell 2-0 to the University of Massachusetts-Boston on Sunday afternoon to conclude its non-conference schedule.

UMass-Boston (4-0) took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute. A cross came in from the left flank and Mohamed Kenawy was waiting at the far post to slot home his first goal of the year.  

The Beacons increased their lead to 2-0 in the second half on Kenawy's second goal of the afternoon. In the 52nd minute, he made a move to beat the defender at the top of the box, and shot a ball that caromed off the post and into the net.

UMass-Boston edged Puget Sound (2-3) in shots (13-11), while the Loggers took more corner kicks (8-3). Ezra Kraus, Josh Sonico, and Brondon Reyes all had two shots, while Palmer recorded two saves in his first career start.

Puget Sound will next begin conference play when they host Pacific Saturday, September 19. The Northwest Conference match-up is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. at Peyton Field.
