TACOMA, Washington –The Puget Sound men's soccer team took down first place Willamette, 1-0, on East Field Sunday afternoon.
The Loggers outshot the Bearcats, 4-1, in the first 45 minutes, but both teams entered halftime scoreless.
The first and only goal of the match came from Puget Sound in the 85th minute. Freshmen Sean Hamel netted a picture-perfect cross from Sam Gonzalez, defeating the Willamette defense and sealing the Loggers 1-0 win.
The Bearcats recorded a corner kick and a shot after Hamel's goal, but failed to find the equalizer.
Goalkeeper Wren Norwood secured the Loggers win with three saves.
Puget Sound wraps up conference play at home on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 12 p.m., vs cross-town rival, Pacific Lutheran.
