Loggers Edged By Bearcats In Home Debut

TACOMA, Wash. - A solid performance in doubles play proved not to be enough as the Puget Sound Loggers fell 6-3 to the Willamette Bearcats in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Friday evening at UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.

In doubles play, the Loggers and Bearcats split with Willamette winning at two and Puget Sound winning at three. The match of the afternoon was at the number one doubles spot as the Willamette team of Andrew Murakami and Matthew Houser just barely edged past Jamie Hosmer (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) and Nick Kelley (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver), 9-8 (7-3).

The Bearcats stepped up their game in singles play, collecting four of six singles matches to collect the win. The Loggers were victorious in the number four slot as Alex Harrison (Southborough, Mass./The Rivers School) defeated Micah Mack, 6-3, 6-1. The Loggers also collected a win in the number five position as Scooter Sabel (Sun Valley, Idaho/Community School) held off Alex Sepenzis, 6-2, 6-0.

The Loggers will be at home again on Saturday when they take on Pacific Lutheran.
