M. Tennis Falls to Lutes, 8-1

TACOMA, Wash. - Less than 18 hours after the conclusion of a tough match against Willamette, the Puget Sound Loggers fell to cross-town rival Pacific Lutheran, 8-1, in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Saturday afternoon at the UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.

The Loggers got their lone win in the number three doubles position as the team of Alex Harrison (Southborough, Mass./The Rivers School) and Carl Larson (Portland, Ore./Wilson) defeated the PLU team of James Crosetto and Brent Smoot, 8-6.  The Lutes took the other two doubles matches by identical scores of 8-4.

In singles play, senior Jamie Hosmer (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) came close to knocking off Kevin Floyd of PLU, falling 6-0, 2-6, 6-2.  Freshman Nick Kelly (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver) also played a tight match at the third position, falling to Justin Peterson, 8-1, 7-6, 1-0 (10-7).

The Loggers will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 27 when they play host to Whitworth in a match scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. at the UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.
