Loggers Commandeered by Bucs, 7-2

TACOMA, Wash. - For the Puget Sound Loggers, it was another match that was closer than the score indicates as they fell to the Whitworth Pirates, 7-2, in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Friday afternoon at the UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.

In doubles play, the Loggers nearly caught a break in the third doubles position as the team of Andrew Timmons (Shoreview, Minn/Mounds View) and Zac Peeler (Sandy, Utah/Waterford) fell to Kellen Oetgen and Colin Barrett in a tight match, 9-8.

In singles play, the Loggers earned wins from Nick Kelley (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver) and Scooter Sabel (Sun Valley, Idaho/Community School).  Kelley earned a three-set victory at the third position over Colin Zalewski, 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (11-9).  At the fourth position, Sabel collected the win over Henry Williams, 6-2, 6-4.  The Loggers nearly collected a split in singles as Peeler fell in three sets to Barrett at the sixth position.

The Loggers have Saturday off before playing host to NWC-power Whitman.  The match with the Missionaires is set for 10:00 a.m. on Sunday at the UPS Tennis Pavilion.
