TACOMA, Washington – The crosstown rivalry against Pacific Lutheran highlights the upcoming Northwest Conference tennis matches for the Puget Sound men's and women's teams this weekend. The Logger men host the Lutes on Saturday, March 4, at 1 p.m., and then they host George Fox on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Logger women play on the road against both PLU and George Fox.
Puget Sound freshman Lisa Owen was named the Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for women's tennis, the league announced early this week. Owen was also recently named the Logger Club Logger of the Week. Owen competed at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles all weekend. On Saturday, Owen beat her Pacific Lutheran counterpart in singles play (7-6, 6-2). She and Nicole Bouche teamed up to win in doubles competition (8-6), as the Loggers went on to beat Pacific Lutheran at home, 8-1.Puget Sound hit the road on Sunday where it beat Willamette, 9-0. Once again, Owen and Bouche won their doubles bout, 8-5. Owen battled to a victory in single play (7-6, 6-4).
Not the first time...
Last week was not the first time Lisa Owen went undefeated through four matches in the top slot in a single weekend. She won two No. 1 singles matches and two No. 1 doubles matches in a doubleheader a College of Idaho to open the spring season.

Both the Logger men and women compete on the road on March 11. The men travel east to Whitworth, while the women head south to Willamette.
