TACOMA, Washington – The 2018 Puget Sound spring tennis season begins Friday, Jan. 26, when the Logger men take on NCAA D-I Portland State at Club Green Meadows in Vanvoucer, Washington. The Puget Sound programs are no strangers to NCAA D-I competition. Last year, the Logger men competed against Seattle University, and the women battled against both Seattle University and Air Force.
The women's spring season begins with a Northwest Conference match at Willamette, February 4. In October 2017, sophomore Lisa Owen advanced to the Round of 16 during the Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Regionals hosted by Whitman, and three other Loggers made it past Round 64 – click HERE for more details.
Senior Tressa Bild's leadership both on and off the courts continues to grow this season, and Owen looks to take the next step after being named to the All-Northwest Conference Second Team in 2017.
Interim head coach DJ Jansen brings over 30 years of coaching and instructing, and he has helped develop numerous successful collegiate and professional athletes.
Prior to arriving at Puget Sound, Jansen spent three years as the Director of Tennis at the Elks Tennis Center in Billings, Montana. Jansen also has various experience training athletes up and down the west coast, from La Quinta, California, to Whistler, B.C. Jansen is also USPTA Certified.
