Men's tennis to play at Seattle, women host Willamette

UPDATE: Due to inclimate weather, the men's match at Seattle University Friday has ben canceled. 

 

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's tennis team heads up I-5 to take on NCAA D-I Seattle University Friday, Feb. 8. Later this weekend, the Loggers women host Northwest Conference foe Willamette, Sunday, Feb. 10.

 

Top test

The last time the Puget Sound men competed against Seattle was during the 2017 season. The Loggers fell to the Redhawks, 7-0.

 

For starters

The Puget Sound women opened the 2019 season with a dominant 8-1 home win over Pacific Lutheran, Feb. 2. Lisa Owen cruised in the No. 1 slots for Puget Sound. She won her singles match in two sets (6-1, 6-1), and she teamed up with Nicole Bouche for an 8-1 victory in doubles play. Bouche also won her singles competition in two sets (6-2, 6-3). That same day, the Logger men lost to the Lutes, 9-0.

 

Recent history vs. Bearcats

In 2018, the Logger women lost their first match against Willamette, 7-2. However, there was a reversal of fortune later in the season when Puget Sound topped the Bearcats, 7-2. Puget Sound won both of its matches against Willamette, 9-0, in 2017.
