TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound tennis teams take on the Whits this weekend. The Logger women host Whitworth (April 13) and Whitman (April 14), while the men compete on the road.
Sunday's match against Whitman marks the final home matches in the collegiate careers of Logger seniors Nicole Bouche and Kyla Richards.
Earlier this week, junior Lisa Owen was named the Northwest Conference Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week. Owen led the Loggers to an 8-1 victory over Pacific Lutheran (April 5). She won at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-2), and she teamed up with Nicole Bouche to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-1. Two days later, Owen and Bouche beat College of Idaho counterparts at No. 1 doubles, 8-0. Owen also won her No. 1 singles match as the Loggers topped the Yotes, 8-1.
The Puget Sound women currently have a three-match winning streak, all of which are by the final score of 8-1. With a 4-1 NWC record (7-5 overall), the Loggers are in third place in the NWC. In addition to Owen's dominance, Nicole Bouche, Bridget Myers, and Barclay Fagg have been racking up wins for the Loggers.
With three matches left in the season, the Logger women are poised to at least match their eight wins from the 2017 season.
