NEWBERG, Oregon – Puget Sound freshman Erica Gott hit her first-career home run on Sunday, but the Logger softball team was swept in a double-header at George Fox.
The Loggers (0-10, 0-4 NWC) trailed 11-0 through the first two innings of the second game, but they rallied for five runs in the third inning. Lisa Colombo and Kristi Nagamine (1-for-2, R) began the inning with consecutive singles, and Jessica Gott (2-for-3, R, 2B, 3 RBI) followed with an RBI to left-center field. Jaci Young (1-for-3, R, 2B, RBI) followed suit with a run-scoring double of her own, leaving two runners in scoring position for Erica Gott (1-for-3, R, 3 RBI, HR).
Gott blasted a three-run shot to cap off the Loggers' five-run rally. Colombo and Amanda Fehr (1-for-2, R) both scored on a George Fox error in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 12-7, but the Bruins plated four runs in the fifth en route to a 16-7 win.
George Fox won the first game, 7-0.
The Loggers return to action when they play at Lewis & Clark for games next weekend, starting on Saturday, March 7, at 12 p.m.
