TACOMA, Washington – Erica Gott pitched a complete-game shutout and Amber Popovich ripped a two-run double as the Puget Sound softball team beat Whitworth, 2-0, in the second game of a doubleheader on Logger Field Saturday afternoon. The Loggers lost the first game, 4-1.

Puget Sound starting pitcher Jessica Gott got off to a strong start by striking out two batters in the first inning, but the Pirates plated three runs in the fifth inning en route to a 4-1 win.
The Loggers (3-12-1, 1-5 NWC) entered the home half of the fourth inning when Mackensie Pearlstein led off the stanza with a single. The freshman promptly stole second base, and she swiped third later in the inning. Erica Gott smacked an RBI single through the left side to score Puget Sound's only run.

Erica Gott allowed just seven hits and walked one as the Loggers beat Whitworth, 2-0.
The Loggers scored both of their runs with two outs in the fifth inning. Lia Nakamoto hit a two-out single up the middle, and she got into scoring position by steal second base. Kaitlyn Webster drew a walk, and Popovich drove in both runners with a double to left-center field.
The Loggers and Pirates conclude their four-game series with a doubleheader on Sunday, March 11, at 12 p.m.
