TACOMA, Washington – Jessica Gott's grand slam lifted the Loggers to a season-finale win over Willamette, 7-6, Saturday afternoon. Puget Sound dropped the first game of the Noerthwest Conference doubleheader, 6-0. The games were originally scheduled for April 8.
The Loggers faced a 3-1 deficit after one inning, but a big second stanza powered the Loggers to a 7-6 win over Willamette.
Lia Nakamoto led off the bottom of the second inning with a double, and Jessica Shimoda followed with a walk. Kasey Stern's moved both runners up one base, Mackensie Pearlstein was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Amber Popovich reached on an error that allowed Nakamoto to score, and kept the bases loaded for Jessica Gott.
Gott blasted her third home run of the season, clearing the bases and giving the Loggers a 6-3 lead.
Puget Sound finishes the season with a 9-19 NWC record, marking the program's most conference wins since 2011.
