Loggers Set School Record In 400m Medley Relay
MINNEAPOLIS - One night after earning All-America honors in the 200m Medley Relay, the Puget Sound Loggers set their second school record in as many days, placing 12th in the 400m Medley Relay on Thursday at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
The team of Garrett Gentling (Shoreline, Wash./Shorewood), Paul Hughes (Ruston, Wash./Curtis), Jackson Kowalski (Keizer, Ore./McNary) and Bret Schluederberg (Chapel Hill, N.C.) earned a spot in the evening's consolation final and took fourth in that race with a time of 3:22.36. That breaks the 24-year old school record of 3:24.18, which was set by the team of Ted Bibbes, Robert Powers, Damon Beninger and David Haynes in 1985. Powerhouse Kenyon College won the event with a time of 3:15.58.
The championships continue on Friday morning with preliminaries set for 10:00 a.m. CDT and finals set for 5:30 p.m. CDT.
