Kowalski Sets School Record On Final Day of NCAA Championship

MINNEAPOLIS - As the only junior competing for the Puget Sound Loggers this week, Jackson Kowalski (Keizer, Ore./McNary) earned honorable mention All-America honors and set a new school record in the 200 Backstroke on the final day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn. 

Kowalski broke the ten-year old record in the morning's preliminary session by posting a time of 1:50.83.  The time earned Kowalski a spot in the Consolation Final, where he placed seventh in the race and 15th overall with a mark of 1:51.80.

As a team, the Loggers placed 18th with 51 team points.  Powerhouse Kenyon College won their 30th consecutive title with 604 points, 202 points more than second-place Emory.  The Kenyon women also won the national title, their 24th straight national title.
